Obituary of Frank Halayay
Francisco (Frank) Halayay JR passed away Wednesday December 16, 2020 in Hollister, California at the age of 66.
He was born and raised in Hollister, California. He graduated from San Benito High in 1972,
attended Gavilan Community college, and Sacramento State college. He earned his
professional degree in Culinary Arts from San Francisco Culinary School. He was an avid
sports enthusiast, and enjoyed participating in Martial Arts, Golf, hiking, and weightlifting.
He loved the San Francisco 49ers, the Oakland A’s, and the San Francisco Giants.
Ultimately Frank will be remembered most for practicing his craft as Chef and owner of the
Cozy Cup Cafe; the restaurant he opened in 1985. He was hard working, generous, passionate,
and bigger than life. He was mischievous, and his boisterous laugh will always be remembered. He was my best friend and soulmate.
Frank is survived by his wife Wendy Halayay, his sons Aaron and Jacob Dempsey, his son
Jason F. Halayay, daughter Stacey Halayay-Wiley, grandson Frankie Halayay, brother Tony
Molina, brother Alex Halayay, Sister in law Deborah Mutter, Mother in Law Juanita Garlock,
Nieces Gail Hernandez-Muhilly, Peggy Bautista, Monyca and Veronyca Molina, Nephews
Vincent and Nicholas Hernandez, and several cousins. A memorial service is planned for
January.
Further details will follow.
