Obituary of Jessie G. Solle
Jessie was born in Missoula, Montana on November 8, 1939. She passed away on May 10, 2020 at the age of 80, in Hollister, California surrounded by her family.
Jessie attended schools around Victor and graduated from Victor High School in 1959. She was the Homecoming Queen and recognized academically for Girls All State.
On December 11, 1959, Jessie married Arthur Solle. They lived in Montana for several years before moving to Hollister, California with their two children, Laurie and Tim, in 1968, when Arthur accepted a teaching position at San Benito High School.
She was a Girl Scout Leader and Boy Scout Leader for many years. She was Neighborhood Cookie Chair for Girl Scouts and an Elementary School Room Mother. For local Amateur Athletic Union Swim Meets, she volunteered to present awards and medals.
Jessie was a nurse’s aide for many years at the Sunset Skilled Nursing Facility. In 1979, she earned her LVN degree and worked at Hazel Hawkins Hospital for fifteen years. She enjoyed working in ICU, Medical Surgery and Obstetrics.
When she wasn’t working, Jessie enjoyed sailing in the Monterey Bay, camping, and fishing. She loved traveling around North America from Vancouver, Seattle, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, New England, Virginia and Washington DC, to the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion and Baja California. She enjoyed skiing at Grand Targhee in Wyoming, and Dodge Ridge, Badger Pass and China Peak in California. Locally, she enjoyed playing softball, golf, tennis and racquetball.
She loved going to restaurants and the movies. Reading was one of her favorite hobbies. Jessie and Art shared a love of westerns, trading books when the other finished. She loved to visit with her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Jessie loved to be with family. When she couldn’t see them, she read about their activities on Facebook. She went to every graduation, Irish Dance competition for her granddaughters, awards assembly, band concert, local parade, and school event. A highlight for her was attending all four of her grandchildren’s college graduations.
She is survived by her husband, Art Solle, of 60 years, her two children Laurie Alosi (Jerry) and Tim Solle (Moira), her sister Mary Carol Covell (Mike) and brother Emil Maier (Mamie), and her grandchildren, Katherine (Fernando) and Breanna Alosi, and Matthew and Aaron Solle and many nieces and nephews.
She is proceeded in death by her father Jesse Fiddler, mother Rose Maier, and sister Joanne LaFountain.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her memory to Pet Friends at 2975 Buena Vista Road, Hollister, CA 95023.
