My deepest condolences to the Brink family. Ivan was a regular at my business ( Bill's Bullpen). Over 20 years he was a faithful customer ordering his yearly hat. Many times I did not have what he wanted but he looked through my catalog and found the hat of his choice, rather than walking out with no hat. His manners was what I appreciated the most. Thank you and please are two words are rarely hear but from Ivan it was natural. Our interactions were always minutes but he made an impression on me. The Lord has a new foot solider who literally wears many hats.

This is Viktoria, Jody’s friend. I’ve heard so much about Ivan, and all of you, over the years, where I feel like I know each of you personally.

I am so saddened to hear the news of the passing of our dear, sweet, ever so friendly and wonderful Ivan. He was such a charming, fun person to be around. The first time I met him I knew there to be many special things about him, and I wanted more time to get to know him better. ``We met Ivan in 1985 as a young boy when he and his family moved into our neighborhood.
Even then he had a strong belief in God and in the strength of family. He was always creative in both the written word and in his art.
He also loved making apricot jam with his Mom, and we have been fortunate to have been the recipients of this delicious labor of love.
We have also enjoyed fruits of his artistry. He would often share with us sketches and poems that he had written.
When Patrick and Dina were married Ivan drew caricatures of them for the custom labels on the wine served at the reception.
Ivan also did a mural size paining that is proudly on the wall of Mike's apartment. It shows waves crashing onto a beach, except the waves morph into a beautiful mermaid. Just an awesome picture.
He will be greatly missed by all, and we will especially miss his great bear hugs!

Jolynn and Larry,
Jody has told me so many times how loving and cheerful Ivan was, and she appreciated his always giving her a big smile and making her feel welcome when she would go down to Hollister. She appreciated his loving spirit, and also his creativity and talent. Think what a wonderful time he is having now talking with all the great artists and philosophers in Heaven! My heart breaks for you. I’ve chosen to write to Ivan and share with you.
Dear, Dear Ivan,
I’ve known you since way before you were born. Your Mom and I went to college together, became super close friends, and have been together through thick, thin, and everything in between.
We loved being pregnant together; your Mom with you, I with Terra. We traded maternity clothes, birthing information, and child rearing ideas. You are six weeks younger than Terra.
We loved taking our babies out shopping, to lunch, and just anywhere we could show you both off.
We did so much together back then. Even though your family moved farther away, we spent time together through the years. Lots of fun times!
I’ve always kept up with your accomplishments, of which there are many; your parents’ pride always shining through.
I know that the last several years have been difficult for you. But, through it all, you have been SO PURE, so loving, so kind, so focused on the positive, and on God. You have been an inspiration to me and to those who have been fortunate enough to have been touched by your time here on earth.
As you have left us, and are now where you need to be, I wish you all the love and peace that you so greatly deserve.

Larry, Jo Lynn:
Our sincere deep condolences and prayers are with you. Though our hearts are heavy we are also grateful to have known such a blessing in Ivan. We were there when he graduated with honors from Palma, we worked side by side in Soledad rebuilding the Winery and he took on the Laboratory with a smile on his lips and an attitude that would change the atmosphere around him. In the manner he conducted himself with all and with that infectious smile one could only love him. Someone once said that if wealth could be measured by friendship, we would consider ourselves the wealthiest and blessed of all for having had the privilege and honor knowing Ivan. Evan and I are fortunate to have fond memories of Ivan. He was so very compassionate, caring and thoughtful. Evan and I had never heard Ivan say a bad word about anyone. He was full of kindness. He was a wonderful son, brother, cousin, and friend. Perhaps above all, Ivan was a great teacher. He will be greatly missed and we are all are lucky to have spent the time we did with him. One of my favorite things about Ivan- besides his hugs and his positive, loving, giving attitude, was his laughter. Brett and I were remembering this last night. I can picture Ivan, laying on the couch, his feet crossed, looking up at the ceiling, his hat tipped over his hair and giggling uncontrollably- it was like he knew the greatest, silliest secret of all and just couldn’t contain it- laughter emanating from every fiber of his being. His eyes sparkled. It was just complete joy and when he laughed like that you couldn’t help but laugh too. We miss him immensely but know he is at peace and that he is still laughing full of joy.
Ivan was not just a cousin to Brett but an older brother too. Brett was remembering just how much Ivan taught him...lessons on compassion and empathy and lessons on driving JoLynn’s car to the clubhouse. Ivan was always the kind older brother- never, ever mean or dismissive to his younger brother/cousins. Brett said Ivan was fair and loving and even though he was never mean, he sure would step in if you were playing too rough with Brandon. He was protective and stood up for others. His heart was so big and so loving. We miss him incredibly. We know he is being treated in heaven by many loved ones.

I remember him as a child who was polite, kind and so sweet. He was kind enough that he didn't mind playing dolls with my daughter Megan when she was four years old and he was a grown up boy 10 years old. Ivan was also an amazing artist at a very young age.
