Josephine Borelli

Obituary of Josephine Borelli

Josephine (Filice) was born in Piane Crati, Calabria, Italy and arrived through Ellis Island on the Conte Biancamano ship in 1955.  She came to Hollister, CA with her family where she remained the rest of her life.

In the late 60’s she co-owned Kiddie Closet, a children’s clothing store and worked as a beautician for many years.  She was a member of Y.L.I. and volunteered at Hazel Hawkins Hospital.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 55 years, Frank and their children Carla of Oakland, Gia (Rick Warren) of Oakland, Frank (Jodi) of Westlake Village, CA and Stephen Borelli of Hollister.  Her grandchildren Rocco (8) and Abriana (6) brought great joy and happiness in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Virginia Filice and is survived by her beloved sisters Ersilia Aiello and Maria Grimsley and her brother Giulio Filice, all of Hollister, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Josephine centered her life around family and friends.  Cooking for them was her greatest joy.  She also liked to knit, needlepoint, garden, play Pedro and share her passion for all things Italian. Traveling to Italy, Hawaii and Aptos were among her fondest memories.

Her colorful personality, strong will and ability to make others laugh will be remembered by all.
