Dolores Hone

Obituary of Dolores Hone

Beloved Dolores “Dee” Hone passed away at 86 years old on March 10, 2017 at her son’s house in La Selva Beach, California. She peacefully fell asleep and went to heaven to be with her loving husband Wayne, who I am sure is now working on her brand new honey-do list. Dee was born in Syracuse New York on June 15, 1930. Dee was survived by her five children Tucker, Lynette, Robin, Michel, and Cindy along with her brother Carmen; 14 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband Wayne Hone, her mother Mary Caruso Daino Heider, and Father Anthony Daino. Dee graduated from high school in 1948 from Assumption Catholic Academy, she attended college, and in 1951 she married a U.S. Army pilot named Arthur Langlois and then lived as an Army wife for 20 years throughout Europe and Asia. After Dee’s first marriage ended, she took a bank teller position with Wells Fargo bank where she worked diligently for many years to become first woman manager of the Wells Fargo Blossom Hill branch and then the manager of the Morgan Hill branch. After leaving Wells Fargo, Dee became a vice president at South Valley Bank in Morgan Hill, transferred to the Hollister branch, and then joined San Benito Bank in the mid-1990’s where she was vice president of business development until her retirement. In 1970, Dee went on a blind date and thus met Wayne Hone. Each enjoyed the evening and before long he called her for another night out. It soon became apparent that their futures were to be entwined, and on May 28, 1972 she and Wayne Hone were married at the Carmel Highlands Inn. Dee and Wayne lived a wonderful loving life together which included many celebrations and perseverance through many trials and tribulations which tested their resolve and led them to unite under Christ our Lord and Savior. Their partnership went beyond their love for each other. Dee aided Wayne in the establishment of two title companies: Santa Clara Land Title in San Jose and in 1988, San Benito Land Title in Hollister. Dee was a fighter. Aided by her faith in Jesus Christ, Dee was not one to back away from adversity or challenges. She overcame financial setbacks, several tough bouts with cancer, and in her later years fought back dementia with every ounce of her body and soul. Dee was a go-getter. She seized every opportunity to give back to her community. She was a board member of the American Red Cross, founding member of Le Tip, vice president of Kinship Center, treasurer and board member of Compassion Pregnancy Services, member of the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce, and president of the San Benito Chamber of Commerce. In 2003 Dee was honored as the Outstanding Woman of the Year at the annual Chamber Recognition Night. She said "I was overwhelmed. This is where I have put down my roots and to be so welcomed, there are just no words to describe it." Dee’s favorite spot in the world was sitting on the beach under a tree in Kaanapali Maui with Wayne looking out over the beautiful blue ocean which I know they are now doing once again in heaven. Dee would always say “I love you sweetheart” and "I thank God for every day of my life". Dee will be missed tremendously by her friends and family until we are all reunited once again in heaven. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 18th at the Christ Fellowship Presbyterian Church, 2066 San Benito St, Hollister, CA. Please join us in celebrating the life and times of our beloved Dee at a reception (location to be announced) immediately following graveside service.
