Obituary of Henry G. Verissimo

Please share a memory of Henry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Henry “Hank” George Verissimo, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024 surrounded by family in Monterey, California after a brief illness. Hank was a first generation American, born on September 8, 1934 in Santa Clara, Ca. His parents immigrated to the United States from Portugal and the Azores Islands and operated a dairy in Palo Alto. The family then moved to Coyote Valley and became orchardists. It is here that Hank and his older brother Arthur fell in love with the farming life. They grew prunes, apricots, pears and walnuts. Hank attended Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill and fell in love with a gorgeous brunette, named Patricia Held. In 1953, Hank joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. He returned home and married Patricia on August 20, 1955. They built a home on the Coyote Valley Ranch and raised 4 boys. In the 1960’s the farming operations expanded into San Benito County. Hank and Pat moved their family to San Juan and continued to grow apricots with his parents in Hollister. Later in life he decided to pursue another career becoming a real estate duo with his wife. Hank had a passion for life and adventure. He traveled the world with Pat and friends, for many years, to many countries. They built a family home in Northstar and would welcome all their family and friends to come and stay. He loved to ski and BBQ and constantly could be found tinkering around on something. He liked a good steak, a glass of wine and would never turn down a bowl of fruit, fresh or dried. Above all, he loved his family. He was a supportive father, loving grandpa and an even better great grandpa. He took the time to watch his grandkids in all their interests. From sporting events to dance recitals to anything in between. His big hugs, warm smile and quiet laughter will be missed by all. Hank is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Marie Verissimo; and his brother, Arthur Verissimo. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 68 years, Patricia Verissimo, sons, Lawrence Verissimo (Kim), Steven Verissimo (Marcy), Michael Verissimo (Susan) and David Verissimo (Shannon), along with 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Mission San Juan Bautista at 12pm. A Reception to follow at Casa Maria, 600 First Street, San Juan Bautista CA.
