Obituary of Robert Joseph Parsons
Robert Parsons passed away at his home in Hollister on Wednesday, January 24th,
2024 at the age of 96 following a short illness. Robert was born in Santa Clara,
California on December 13th, 1927, one of nine boys to Helen and William Parsons.
He lived with his family before moving to Hollister in 1951. He was a graduate of Santa Clara High School where he was extremely proud of his back-to-back baseball championships.
He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Papa, Son, Brother, Uncle and friend to many.
Robert met his wife Adele Yuste Parsons whom he married on June 3rd, 1951. Together
they raised their 3 daughters.
Robert is survived by his daughters Karen Parsons Barnes (Dale) of Hollister, Diane Parsons Voss (Robert) of Davenport Iowa, and son-in-law Harold Nunez of Hollister.
He was Grandfather to Derek Joseph Barnes (Allison), Tiffany Barnes Mumm (Tyson),
Sarah Corwin (James), John Tomlinson, Elizabeth Rodriquez (Fernando), Jorge Cimadevilla (Daniella) and family, Mariana Melo and family, and Carolina Fernadez-Genova (Jose Gracia) and family.
He is also survived by his brother-in-law Manuel Yuste, sister-in-law Connie Lucus (Tom), nieces and nephews Cheryl Burt (John), Sandy Parsons, Michael Parsons (Barbara), Cindy Plowman (Bob), Scott Parsons, and Eric Parsons.
He was a Great Grandfather to Trinity Mumm, Aislinn Barnes, Trystan Mumm, Derek Barnes II, Austin Sorell, JJ Corwin, Jaylinn Corwin, Taryn Borges, Kayden Borges, Dylan Tomlinson, and Owen Rodriquez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Adele Yuste Parsons, his daughter Debbie Parsons Nunez, his brothers Fred Parsons, William (Art) Parsons, Richard Parsons, and his half-brothers Benny Vega, Al Vega, Johnny Vega, Henry Vega, and Manuel Vega.
Robert was a proud member of the Hollister Elks Lodge #1436, he also participated in square dancing, and enjoyed playing bingo which earned him the name “Bingo Bob”, watching baseball, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. He was also a member of the Yellowjacket Motorcycle Club for several years in the 1950s. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and dear friends Armeda Dooling, Mary Jane Padilla and family as well as Sue Mota Redmond and family.
Robert worked at the old Brown and Chapel Hardware store for over 40 years, as well as Black and Coope Furniture and Fortinos appliances before retiring at the age of 70.
The family thanks all of their relatives and friends for their love, support, food, cards, and prayers. They would also like to thank caregivers Della Martinez, Juanita Geranimo, Bridge Hospice and their nursing staff, as well as Father Carlos of Sacred Heart Church.
