Obituary of Rosemarie Lavagnino Caetano

Please share a memory of Rosemarie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
RoseMarie “Mim” Lavagnino Caetano, the last surviving child of John H. Lavagnino and Rose Beresini Lavagnino spent her entire 91 years within the City of San Juan Bautista, a rarity in today’s world. She spent her early years on the family ranch and had many chores including milking cows and tending the garden. She was the mother of seven children; Stephanie, Nora, Rita, Leonard Jr., Paul, Anne and Joseph. She also was grandmother to three; Annika, Dominic and Mark. Her husband Leonard pre-deceased her after being married for 56 years. Mim was a quiet and private lady that appreciated the natural world and all its wonders. In her early years she was an avid horse woman and gardener. She carried her love of gardening with her throughout her life. She worked tirelessly improving the community with gardens at the VFW and planting pepper trees along Church Street some 50 years ago, along with many other endeavors. If she saw litter or weeds or anything else out of place, she made sure to clean it up. Mim had a creative energy and embraced the finer attributes of beautiful presentations with her bowls of fruits and vegetables gracing the kitchen table. Like her late husband Leonard, she loved living in San Juan Bautista and enjoyed the beauty, people and history of this community that was her home for over 91 years. To honor Mim’s legacy please take care of our community and plant your gardens with flowers to create your own special Eden. Per our mother’s wishes services will be private. Please join our family in honoring Mim with a celebration of her life at the San Juan VFW on September 16 at 1pm.
