Jose Salvador Salinas, “Sal”, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the age of 80 at his home in Hollister, California. He was born on December 24, 1941 in La Union, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Ezequiel and Alicia Salinas. He made his way to Texas with elder brother, Jaime, and at the age of 18 he eventually settled in Los Angeles, California. He worked as a delivery man for Sloan’s Cleaners where he met and married his wife, Rebecca on June 1, 1963. They had been married for 59 years. He worked hard to save his money to help his father, mother and ten siblings emigrate to the United States. He also worked as a meat cutter for ten years. In 1980 and four children later, the family moved north and Sal transitioned to driving a big rig for Trans Valley Transportation (TVT) in Gilroy. Hollister became the family home in 1984. Sal’s friends and family knew him to be a kind, generous and congenial man. He had great faith in God and his benefactress, Our Lady of Guadalupe. He was a member and standard bearer of the Sacred Heart/St. Benedict Guadalupanos. Jose Salvador was preceded in death by his father, Ezequiel Salinas, mother, Alicia Salinas, brothers, Jaime Salinas and Hugo Salinas. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Salinas and son Salvador Salinas and daughters and their spouses, Grace and Robert Jones of Los Gatos, Jacqueline and Hector Munoz of Hollister, and Rebecca and Daniel Salomon of Maricopa, Arizona; grandchildren, David Salinas, Alexandria and Sophia Munoz; sisters Martha Perales (Robert), Lupe Vaca, Graciela Diaz, Diana Pak (Vicent), Betty Beach (Bob), Lourdes Thorpe; brothers Louis Salinas (Bertha), Tony Salinas (Connie), Santos Salinas and numerous nieces and nephews.
