It is with great regret that the family of Mary Ann Gabrielle May-BoMarc announces her passing in Hollister, CA on April 7, 2022 at the age of 71. Mary was born in a US Naval hospital in Philadelphia, PA to Marcella White-May and Richard May Sr. They moved around quite a bit in the first 8 years of her life before settling in San Mateo, CA. After graduating high school, Mary stayed close to home for college. In 1973 she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from the College of Norte Dame in Belmont, CA and also earned a CA Teaching Credential. She had additional Culinary Arts training in England, France and in the USA. Some notable chefs were Jean Troisgros, Roger Verge (both of France) and Julia Child here in the USA. As a consultant for food industry, she serviced most of the major food companies in Northern California in the areas of product/recipe development, food styling, and restaurant start-ups. She wore many hats as a consultant over the years such as Food Journalist, Food Stylist, Retail Manager in a baking supply store, Manager of Culinary Arts Dept for City of Burlingame, Home Economics Teacher at San Mateo High School Adult School. She worked at The Clorox Company for 20+ years. She was the Research Home Economics Supervisor. She managed the Food Concept Development Center/Research Test Kitchens. This division was the idea center for the Food Division. Mary was a trained facilitator and she would interface with Marketing and R&D and other brand groups within Clorox. Some products she was in charge of developing, marketing, testing, modifying were under the Hidden Valley Ranch, KC Masterpiece, Kitchen Bouquet, Kingsford and Glad brands. Mary was a member of the San Francisco Home Economists in Business organization. Mary held many positions including Chairman 1990-91. Additionally, in 1991 she was awarded Home Economist of the Year. Mary was married to Rudolph BoMarc for 33 years before he passed in 2019. They did just about everything together. They liked to take 4-day getaways to the ocean or beach in top notch accommodations. They both enjoyed collecting crystals, reading, and listening to music. Mary liked cats and dogs and would visit with all the dogs who walked down her street. Her favorite time of year was Thanksgiving through Christmas. Holiday cooking/baking, and Christmas ornaments were some of the things she like best. Mary was preceded in death by her father Lt. Commander Richard May Sr. (1972), her mother Marcella White-May (1984), her brother Richard Jr. (2003) and her beloved husband Rudolph BoMarc (2019). Mary is survived by her nephews and nieces and their children. Richard III (Kelly) and grandnephew Reno (Katie), John, Robert and grandniece Malaya, Michelle (Joel Triggs) and grandnieces Jessica and Karissa. Also survived by her cousin Marcella [Marcie Hinton] (Ron Seitz) and former sister-in-law Joyce Mantooth. The family has yet to decide on a memorial date.
