Obituary of Gerald Thomas McCullough

Third generation Hollister resident, Gerald (Jerry) McCullough passed peacefully in his sleep at the age of 85 on May 29, 2021. He is survived by his wife Mary Stuart McCullough, originally from Stockton, California, his three children Thomas, Nancy, and Michael, Grandchildren Kathleen, Matthew, James, Chloe, and Scarlette, and great grandchildren Brynn and Emma. Mary and Jerry were married in August 1958, and shared 63 years of dedicated community service and adventurous travel. Jerry was deeply committed to the Hollister community through his philanthropic, commercial, and housing development projects. Highlights of his Hollister community accomplishments and recognitions include: founder of the local Junior Chamber of Commerce, President of the Chamber of Commerce, President of Hollister Rotary, founding member of San Benito Bank and Chairman of the Board, Rotary District 5170 Governor 1989-1990, YMCA Board Member, San Benito County Man of the Year 2009, major contributor to Hazel Hawkins Hospital Foundation and the Community Foundation for San Benito County, along with numerous local building developments. Along with Jerry’s community engagement, Mary and Jerry lived and loved a rich travel life visiting 78 countries around the world, making friends and connections along the way. Mischievous in spirit, quick to lend a hand, always plotting his next challenge or adventure, Jerry McCullough will be missed by all who had the good fortune to have known him.
