Obituary of Linda Joyce Gilliam

Linda Joyce Gilliam passed away on July 24, 2016, at the age of 72 years. Linda was born to Dorothy and Tom Shillinglaw June 2, 1944 at the Community Hospital in San Bernardino, California. Dorothy and Tom resided in Redlands, California where Linda attended Redlands High School. On September 21, 1961, she married Larry Gilliam. They moved to Tacoma, Washington where Larry served in the Army at Fort Lewis in 1961 and 1962. The couple then returned to Redlands until 1975. Larry acquired a position at Cape Canaveral, Florida in 1976 where Linda was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She was treated with chemotherapy and radiation until 1980. The family returned to California and purchased a home in Gilroy. Linda continued her treatment at Stanford until the mid 1980’s when she achieved remission. In 2002, Larry retired and the family moved to Hollister. Linda is survived by her husband of 54 years, Larry Gilliam; her son Greg Gilliam of Gilroy; daughter Terri Allen of Hollister; grandson Mathew Allen of Hollister and grandson Alex Gilliam of Gilroy. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Calvary Cemetery. Donations are preferred to Mabie Southside Skilled Nursing Facility - Patient Activity Fund.
