Obituary of Hermes F. Trueba

Services have been held for Hermes “Corky” Trueba who passed away in Hayward, California on July 6th, 2016, at the age of 86 years. Hermes was born in San Jose, California to his parents Hermes and Theresa Trueba. He lived most all of his life in South San Francisco, attending Martin Grammar School and South San Francisco High School. He was a member of All Souls Catholic Church and he married his wife Leona there and also renewed his wedding vows there for his 25th anniversary. He was also an altar boy at that parish. He joined the Army during WWII where he was a sergeant for 5 ½ years serving in occupation of Japan and Germany. He was in the 4th Infantry Division and 8th Infantry Regiment in Germany and in Headquarters Company, 8th Army while in Japan. Hermes and his wife, Leona M. Trueba, were married for 43 years before she died in February of 1995. He worked for Swift & Company in South San Francisco as a butcher for 20 years. When the company closed and moved to Arizona, Hermes went to work for the San Bruno Park School District in San Bruno, as a custodian. Hermes is survived by his daughters Georgetta Gomez of Hayward and Leona Mary Yasko of South San Francisco; Son Robb Joseph Trueba of San Francisco; as well as numerous granddaughters, grandsons, great-granddaughters and great-grandsons, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by numerous relatives in the Castro, Leyva, Nunes and Larios families in San Benito County and elsewhere. He was predeceased by his son, Hermes Michael Trueba of San Francisco; step-daughter Margie Larios-Lee and Sister Sandra Estrada. Donations may be made to Kaiser Hospital of South San Francisco.
