Awww reading this breaks my heart but also puts a smile on my face because yes Raul can cook and EVERY time I was over during dinner, he would not let me go out and play unless I ate all my food. I remember being one of the last ones at the table. I also remember how he would be gone for weeks and when he would come home he was just full of energy to see he loved ones and would make everyone laugh with his jokes and silliness. Tia Mary and Children I’m so sorry for your loss. I love you all so much!

Thank you tío for always loving and treating me like I was one of your daughters. For always making me laugh and early Sunday menudo. For all the laughter, jokes, and dancing. For knowing that Carlo was the one even before I did and telling me not to be a “mensa,” you were right! I love you tío!

I’ll never forget the summer you were driving from Texas back to California and you picked me up in at my cousins house in Oxnard going through Los Angeles. I was around 12/13 years old. I remember feeling so cool having the back of the big rig all to myself. You made me some popcorn at the truck stop, got me a slurpee and let me watch cartoons the whole way back. I fell asleep about half way through and woke up in the middle of the night to you singing your heart out to your favorite music. I also remember giving you piojos (lice), I had no idea I had it and I remember my Mom calling my Tia to tell her and my Tia already knew and you didn’t care that you had to replace all the blankets and pillows and just laughed it off. My sweet Tio, you were always the FUN one, the loud one, the one that never gave a shit what anyone thought, you came to this earth to live your life with the people you loved. Always making us laugh with your jokes, teaching us how to dance and instilling the confidence in us not to be shy about dancing.
I want you to know the love you showed to my Tia always inspired me, how you couldn’t keep your hands off your Mamacita, adored her and gave her all that you possibly could because her happiness was your happiness.
We love you Papi Gordo, love your flaquita Dani.
