I am so sorry to hear of the death of Norma. I had tried to get in touch with her in the past but had no luck . So I am just now learning of her passing. My husband and i were friends with them through the insulator hobby and saw them at many insulator shows. We were able to visit them at their home in Santa Clara. I did not see but one picture in the video of them with insulator friends . The one picture was of Norma and my husband. He passed in 2014. He was wearing a white straw western hat. It was good to see that. I have missed both of them. And John. John and Norma were such a devoted couple.

I have known John and Norma for the better part of 30 years. Ours were a shared passion for all things railroad. It was at a railroadiana show in Sacramento where I met them for the first time. We were practically neighbors, for me being in Sunnyvale at the time and them being in Santa Clara. Over the years, we had many great adventures together, chasing the "railroad treasures." I used to remember meeting them at the Kane County Chicago Railroad show during the month of June. They had a green Suburban that John had converted almost into a mini mobile home. We would share some of Norma's good home cooking while we overnighted at the fair campgrounds, waiting for the show the next day.
John and Norma were kind and honest, from a generation that followed the "cowboy way" of life.
For me, they were like a second family. I miss them both sincerely. For me, I will miss Norma and her apple pies the most of all.

My father and Johnny had been stationed together in San Diego at the end of WWII. They were on guard duty together and became fast friends. After Norma and Johnny were married they made a summer fishing trip to Idaho each summer and would spend a few days with us. Norma taught me how to get the most out of my 35mm Argus. Some of the few pictures I have of my family she took. Trips with them were always a joy, fishing, camping, winery visits; always a high point of my summers. True westerners in every sense. I think of them often and love this snapshot if Norma’s life. Thank you, Becky Stradley Wilson

I have so many memories but the first one that comes to mind is our love of playing Quiddler (a card game where you make words similar to scrabble. We played 2 to 6 games a day while I was with her during the day. She would lay her words down and I would see a word that I thought was not a real word. She would say "YES IT IS, LOOK IT UP ON YOUR PHONE". Sure enough it was always a word. It was more fun when on Holidays the family was together and 3 to 5 of us would play.
When Bill & I would travel with John & Norma to Arizona, Utah, California, Nevada Idaho and Oregon most all time we would be going do the highway or a 2 lane road and Norma would say "slow down and keep an eye out, just a way down the road turn right and follow the road until you come to a dirt road then turn left or right and I will show you a sight you have never seen. We had quite a time exploring the back roads. She did not like air conditioning and I did not like heat. After a couple of years we turned the air on and gave her a blanket. I will miss all the memories she shared with me over the years. We were blessed to have her and John as part of our family and she will be missed but the memories and pictures will keep her in our thoughts. I know that she is with John where she belongs. Thanks for the Memories
Love Georgia

Norma was a very special lady. Creative, intelligent, and set in her ways. We clashed a few times, but I learned so much from her. I was happy to have cared for her and John and write down their stories. I really enjoyed doing genealogy research for her and experience her joy when I found new things to share with her.
I miss her deeply and will always keep her in my heart.
