Albert Spears passed away at his Hollister residence on June 14th, 2020 at the age of 86 years. Albert Spears passed away peacefully in his home on June 14, 2020 surrounded by his family. Albert was born to William and Mary Spears on April 15, 1934 in Liverpool, England. He was one of 14 children. At age 9, after the death of both parents, Albert was sent to live at an orphanage. At age 17, he joined the British Army and was sent to Malaysia for 2 years where he served as an ambulance driver. He married in England in 1960, and shortly thereafter emigrated to the United States. He and his wife originally settled in San Francisco. Most of his life, however, was spent in the bay area where, for over 50 years, he worked in the construction industry building custom homes. In 2010, he moved to Hollister and enjoyed a quiet life working on small projects, gardening, and spending time with family. Albert was passionate about nature photography and as a result traveled to Africa, the Galápagos Islands, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, and across the continental U.S. He was also fond of motorcycle riding and traveled solo across the country, enjoying most his journey through the Appalachian Mountains. Albert is survived by his four children; Margaret Spears of Hollister, CA, Theresa (John) Borina of Hollister, CA, Cathy Spears (Peter Savich) of Los Gatos, CA and Stephen (Wendy) Spears of San Jose, CA. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Jessica (Nick) Guzman, Fiona, Mollie, Kiera, Rose, John, and one great-grandchild, Lili. Services will be private.
