Obituary of Antoinette M. Verbanic

**** A Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be held on May 20th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Church **** My obituary: by Tonie Verbanic Antoniette “Tonie” Verbanic passed away in Hollister, California on May 20th, 2020 at the age of 94 years. She was born in Hollister and lived here all her life. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from San Benito High School in 1944. She was a member of Sacred Heart and St. Benedict’s Church’s where she served as a greeter and sang in the choir. Tonie previously help organize the YLI (Young Ladies’ Institute) in 1950. Tonie was a volunteer at the former “Hollister Convalescent Home” (now Mabie Skilled Nursing Facility-Northside). She and her husband Chuck danced for and with the patients for 23 years at all of the local convalescent home; “We were blessed to do so”. Antoinette (Tonie) was the daughter of the late Antone and Minnie (Ostoja) Matulich; and wife of the late Charles “Chuck” Verbanic who passed on September 23rd, 2019. She is survived by nephew Dr. Charles Verbanic (Carolyn) of Youngstown, Ohio; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Private entombment will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Donations are preferred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital c/o the mortuary.
