My condolences to the family. I just learned of Mr. Peter Frusetta's passing. What a great man and legacy.
Peter Frusetta gave me my first job at 15 working on the Frusetta ranch with his son Bob (one my best high school friends), his nephew George and Frank, an old-time cowboy. Some of the best memories I have, and life skills learned, are from those summers on the ranch.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

So sorry to hear about Peter's passing. I met him after I bought a few of his books as my Chavoya family was mentioned in one of them. I loved talking history with him.
He will be missed.

My family lived in Tres Pinos and I attended Tres Pinos Grammar School until 7rh grade, when my family moved to Fairview Rd. in Hollister. Peter and I were in first grade together and also graduated in the same class at Hollister High School.
Peter attended most of our class reunions, the last one being held in 2018 at The Inn at Tres Pinos. Rest In Peace, Pete.

It is always sad when another San Benito County icon passes. I knew Peter, respected him and admired him for his love of his home, his bravery to represent in Sacramento...and his commitment to preserving the history of San Benito County and Central California...my condolences to his family.

Peter was also survived by his wife of 16 years, Helen Betancourt. (The spelling in the article above is incorrect.) They enjoyed a long and devoted second marriage together, which included a memorable trip to Paris and Estonia, as well as one to the Grand Canyon, a photo of which is attached to this remembrance. Even though Peter's father frequently traveled the region of Northern Arizona to buy cattle, Peter had never been to the Grand Canyon, so that was a special memory for them both.
Peter always showed a feisty wit, which Helen greatly appreciated, especially during the times she was nursing him back from several surgeries and emergencies. Helen was a devoted caretaker and Peter was strong and persistent, both of which helped him live a long and happy life, despite being in failing health for many years.
One of the many fruits of their years together is Peter's last book, "Tres Pinos: Its Colorful Past," which they worked on together for several months, with Peter writing and Helen acting as editor and publisher. They were so excited to have uncovered some rare, previously unpublished photos of Tres Pinos a century ago.
Peter is dearly missed by his widow, along with her 5 children and 13 grandchildren, all of whom enjoyed their trips to Grandma Helen's house to see her and Grandpa Peter.
May he rest in peace.

So wonderful that dear Helen is mentioned here, thank you so much Helen for taking loving care of my uncle, you gave him many happy years in his time of need. I remember how happy he was on a day that the two of you had traveled to Monterey to a yard sale. He was sitting in his kitchen cleaning and sorting coins that he had bought... He was always happy to find a treasure!
Love and miss him much, his niece, Patricia!

Thank you for acknowledging Helen’s unconditional love & devotion to Peter. I have been a witness to her dedication for many years. I am blessed for having spent many Wednesdays at their kitchen table in fellowship & prayer with both of them.
Helen was protective of Peter, always advocating on his behalf & navigating his complex medical issues, honoring Peter’s wishes & providing him with comfort & reassurance during painful times. She is a beautiful example of a godly woman & God sees her tears

Peter was a gentleman and is a County Legend. He did so much for our County and the State of California.
I so enjoyed visiting him during his tenure in Sacramento. I remember bringing many of my fellow Directors of the California School Boards Association and how he handled the room. First, he would kid with them, then he would play mind games and so confused them, then he would show his serious side and answer all their questions, showing that he was intelligent and well informed. Everyone who left his office would shake their heads because they thought going in he was just a cowboy from the bonnies. They so respected him after those visits and saw how much he loved education and his concern about their issues. I hope the county commemorates him with a statue or at the least a plaque. It sure would be better than those awful stones in from of the Board of Supervisor's building!
My mom also wanted to mention how cordial he was to her. He really knew how to make her laugh!
Our sincere condolences to all the Frusetta Family.

When I was living in Sacramento in the 90’s, I had business at the Capitol. I went up to his office and introduced myself and that I was born and raised here in Hollister. He said come on in this talk, a few moments later his Staff Secretary came in and said, Mr. Frusetta, your being paged on the house floor, we shook hands and he said come back again, we’ll i didn’t. That was the last time we ever saw each other. A great guy, friendly and a moment I’ll never forget. My condolences to the family.

Dear Anita, Nancy, Jen and the entire Frusetta family, my wife, Cathy, and I extend our heartfelt condolences to all of you during this difficult time. Nancy, I recall during high school visiting your home and meeting your Dad. He had such a zest for life and I recall him really making me laugh. And then I thought AHA!!! This is who Nancy gets her wonderful sense of humor from❣ I never had an opportunity to thank your Dad, but I will now, for always being so kind to my Dad throughout the years. My Dad was a WWII Vet and was a Radioman in the Navy. When your dad was an Assemblyman, he sent my Dad the most meaningful and gracious letter thanking him for his service. It touched my Dad so deeply. It was on official letterhead paper and my Dad framed it. So, thank you Peter for your kindness and generosity of mind and heart. You will be missed by many. God bless to you and the family and friends who are grieving. ❌⭕
