Obituary of David Mena Quintero

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David Mena Quintero passed away at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital on June 3, 2016 at the age of 71 years. David was born to his late parents Jesus and Josephine Quintero on February 11, 1945 in Hollister, CA. He was a Haybaler and graduated from San Benito High School. David had dedicated his entire working career to the family business, Jesus L. Quintero Inc. and happened to be very proud of his accomplishments in helping to build the family business. At a younger age, David enjoyed taking his horses for rides up in the Panoche Valley. Not only was David a dedicated farmer, he was also a proud rancher. He spent a great deal of time doing cattle branding and enjoyed good food at family gatherings with his family and friends. When David wasn't out working, he enjoyed watching cowboy movies on his favorite western channel while eating a delicious homemade hamburger with a tall glass of soda. David had a sweet tooth and always enjoyed the taste of candy when he was home. David was always in the company of his best buddy and family dog: Jake. David was always willing to help others in need and will be greatly missed by those he helped and by his loved ones. David was always blessed and was surrounded by family and friends that truly loved him. He will be remembered greatly for his dedicated work, sense of humor, and for the great person he was. David is survived by his wife of 49 years, Martha Lujan Quintero; his children Christina (Arnulfo) Deleon, Valerie (Santiago) Hernandez; Steven Quintero, Lori Quintero (Eric Contreras), and Paul Quintero. David is also survived by his 8 grandchildren: Eddie Deleon, Robert Deleon, Jesus Deleon, Adrian Hernandez, Michelle Hernandez, Matthew Hernandez, Angel Martin, Anthony Martin and his 3 great grandchildren: Dalilah Deleon, Brooklyn Deleon, and Isaac Angel Martin whom is due in September. Visitation will be Friday, June 17, 2016 from 3:00 pm until 8:30 pm with the Funeral Service beginning at 7:00 pm at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. On Saturday, visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. for a 12 noon burial at Calvary Cemetery.
