Bro. Hurst was a giant among men in more than just his physical presence. Only God knows how many lives he and his wife have touched in their years of serving God in the many capacities they served in. Not the least of which was ad hoc mentor to so many young men like myself who watched in amazement at his accomplishments, generosity and gregarious nature. He was on the board for every phase of my ministry applications and always serious enough to impress upon you the weightiness of the meeting, but gentle and kind enough to make yo feel welcome and safe in his hands. There were times I remember that we got to see the very serious side of his love for ministers, saints and forward progress of the Washington District, His love for all of those things was always obvious. We are better men and women for having had him in our lives.
