Obituary of Helen M. Ostoja

Helen Marie Ostoja passed away peacefully in Hollister Ca, Saturday February 1, 2020 at the age of 97. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Mike and Catherine Mekis, brothers Andy and Nick Mekis, son Tommy Ostoja and husband Frank Ostoja. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her son Frank Ostoja (Kathy), four grandchildren Michael Ostoja (Jessica), Stephen Ostoja (Jeannine), Kristie Espinoza (Lee), and Leslie Campbell (Jason), and 10 great grandchildren who loved her dearly. Helen was born and raised in Watsonville CA, and moved to Hollister after marrying in 1947. She then became head operator at the telephone company and worked there until starting her family. Helen was a proud homemaker and kept very busy between sewing, gardening, golfing, cooking/baking, and spending time with her family. Helen lived every day to the fullest and made 97 look easy. She was the life of the party wherever she went and never passed on a chance to have fun. She will be most remembered for: sunbathing, cosmopolitans, oatmeal cookies, telling jokes, and the love for her Croatian heritage. Per Helen’s request burial will be private.
