One of my favorite memories of Nana was when I was younger and it was a few weeks before Christmas I had "figured out" that Santa didn't exist. I went straight for her to let her know I was on to the trickery because I "knew". I was the only grandchild of hers that was bold enough to tell her Santa didn't exist. That was the first year I didn't get an extra present from Santa.

She was always willing to help her nieces and nephews when they needed it. She used to take us to the mall so we could shop for our school clothes, help with school projects, such as when a cake had to be made from scratch or helping to learn how to parallel park.
We went to the movies and she made sure she saw every movie that had Tom Selleck. For many years she would bake the Christmas cookies and give everyone a plate. She really enjoyed being in the kitchen and making up her own recipes to add to the family recipe box.

Aunt Noreen was not just my aunt but she was like a mother to me. She was always there for me when I needed her. Whenever I fell into hard times she was there to pick me up and help me get on my feet again. That is just how she was. She took care of everyone, even better than she cared for herself. After my mother, her little sister had a stroke and was hospitalized she was there almost every evening to take my mom dinner and just spend time with her. She gave selflessly and loved her family deeply. She will be missed and always loved. Aunt Noreen, thank you for every hug, for every encouraging word and for always being there for me. I love you and may you forever be at peace.

Nana to me was like my second mom. She allowed me to enter her heart, her home and gave my children the presence of a grandmother. She was the one that spoiled my children with McDonald's when she babysat them. She knew that I like apple pies so she would bring me an apple pie so I wouldn’t get mad with her for getting the kids junk food.
Nana, thank you for your unconditional love.

One of my fondest memories was in the winter of 2000, Nana always got us Christmas ornaments to represent each year. On this particular occasion she took us four kids to the Hallmark store and basically let us run free to choose which one we wanted, unlike prior years where she would gift us with one that she had chosen. After a bit of time she gathered us all back up and honestly I have no real recollection of any of our choices but my brother Kyle's. He brought forward this very curvaceous character known as 7of 9 made popular by the Star Trek: Voyager series.
I remember the look on Nana's face a little bright eyed in a way that she knew "how am I going to explain this choice to your mother?" but despite the thought she asked him in the most sweet and patient format she could muster up "are you sure this is the one you choose?" I, too looked upon his choice with utter dismay and questioned "do you know who this is?" Kyle looked back and forth between Nana, myself and 7of 9 as if to possibly question his own choice but instead with complete certainty replied "Yup! This is the one!"
We still have that ornament to this day, but what I love and still giggle about is her absolute generosity to give even if she didn't know what it would ultimately look like. That her joy was giving us the opportunity to have this tradition and be steadfast in picking our individual ornament. Thank you Nana, I love you

One of my favorite memories of Aunt Noreen/Nana is driving to visit Ollie in her VW Rabbit up the San Juan Canyon. Every time we’d get out of Ollie’s driveway she’d turn off the car, put it in neutral and say “Let’s see how far we get this time.” We’d coast until the car couldn’t go anymore and she’d turn it back on. Almost made it back to town one time!!
I tried this once when my children were young after we went to Fremont Peak and it wasn’t the same experience. I turned off the car, put it in neutral and in a panic turned it back on when I realized I couldn’t control the car when it was turned off. Back in the day the steering wheel didn’t lock when you turned off the car. After the panic moment I laughed and wished I could give my children the same experience. To this day I wish I could do it again.
I will love you always Aunt Noreen!

Noreen worked at Leather Back along with my husband, Bill..Noreen was a giving, thoughtful person .My biggest regret is that I didn’t have time to see her in the hospital .
