Obituary of Roger Aguayo

Please share a memory of Roger to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roger was born in Brownsville, Texas, the 2nd eldest of 4 children of Maria de Jesus and Amador Aguayo. He and his family moved to California where he eventually met his wife Isabel. After Roger and Isabel were married, they had two daughters. Roger worked as a heavy equipment operator for local companies; Robinson & Moretti and Walt Waters. During that time he was a part of a team of operators who helped lay the foundation of Bonfante Gardens, now known as Gilroy Gardens which opened in 2001. Soon after moving to Hollister with his family, he retired. Retirement allotted him the opportunity to focus on his hobbies. Known for his green thumb, he enjoyed gardening and planting fruit trees and vegetables. He also took the time for his art; mainly focusing on landscape paintings. He later became fond of still life art, re-creating the Aztec Calendar and creating realistic depictions of the moon. Roger passed away December 18th, losing his 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife Isabel and their two daughters Gilda and Olivia. A Family Gathering will be held on Sunday, December 29th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home, 870 San Benito Street, Hollister, CA 95023
