Obituary of Leona Marie Schulz

Leona Marie Schulz passed away in Hollister, California on Monday, December 2nd, 2019 at the age of 92 years.

Leona Schulz was born in Colorado on July 5, 1927 to Isaac and Katherine Enns.  She lived with her family in Colorado until she completed her nurses training, at which time she married Albert Schulz on August 28, 1949.  They moved to Reedley, California to begin their family, raising 4 sons and 1 daughter.  In 1969 they moved to Hollister where they lived out the remainder of their lives.

Leona was active in her church and the nursing community.  She was the director of nursing at Hollister Convalescent Hospital for over 10 years, then finished her nursing career working for the Visiting Nurses Association.  In retirement, Al and Leona took many trips in their motor home, assisted in care taking their twin grandchildren, and hosted many memorable family gatherings in their home.  Albert expired on February 2, 2015.

Leona frequently commented on how blessed she was to have good health. She lived alone at home until November 27, 2019, when she was hospitalized for sudden onset weakness and diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She passed on December 2, 2019.

She lived a long and healthy life and will be missed by those who were blessed to have known her.  Memorial Services will be held Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on December 13, 2019 at 3:00 pm
