Obituary of James Edward McCullough
James Edward McCullough passed away on October 11, 2019 at the age of eighty-five.
Jimmy, born February 7th, 1934, was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Stephanie (Fannie) McCullough, and his brothers Charles and Bernard. Jimmy is survived by his sisters Tillie McCullough, Alberta Donahue (Dr. Michael Donahue), Anne Marie Griffin (Dr. Frank Griffin) and sister-in-law Eileen McCullough, as well as 13 nieces and nephews and 48 grandnieces and grandnephews.
Jimmy graduated from Hollister High in 1952, and served with the US Army in Europe from 1956-1958. After the army, Jimmy joined his brother, Charlie, working on the family ranch in the Panoche Valley raising turkeys. The partnership would last 67 years, until Charlie’s passing in January of 2019. The ranch would switch from turkeys to lambs before switching to cattle and dry land farming for good in 1969.
Jimmy was an avid hunter and card player. He especially enjoyed the weekly card party at the Panoche Inn. Jimmy loved his family, friends and his dogs. He loved his cattle and he loved the ranch. It’s only fitting that Jimmy would pass on the ranch, while working with a cow and calf in the corral.
Per Jimmy’s wishes, services will be private for family. Any donations made in Jimmy’s name should be made to Sacred Heart Parish School.
