I'm a musician living in Connecticut. I had the privilege to attend several of Khris's shows several years ago on Cape Cod. I even sat in and played piano once while Khris sang 'As Time Goes By'. He was a wonderfully talented man and will be dearly missed. I brought several friends to see and enjoy his show, as I always did.
I only learned of his passing today. May he rest in the peace of the Lord.
Thanks Khris. We're still laughing!
God bless.

Just asked a friend who was vacationing in Ogunquit, ME, if she could see if Kris was still playing there. So I just goggled and found out that Kris is playing in heaven now. :(((. We heard him In Provincetown, MA. Fell in love with his voice and humor. We even played his songs at our wedding. Glad we got to meet him.

I was devastated to finally find out that Khris had passed from our midst. As his friends and family knew all too well he would smother anyone he really liked in kindness and generosity. He was an angel of hope and salvation to so many in distress. He could pluck someone out of depression or misery faster than anyone. Partly by his ability to put things into perspective in his typical comedic way and partly just by the love he so generously shared as he always seemed to sense when someone needed a hug, a kind word or a joke and always willing to oblige. I will especially miss the random phone calls that never started with "hello" but always with something like "What do you call a ......" and you knew immediately to drop what you were doing and be ready to have a philosophical, sometimes deep but always uplifting conversation. I used to make a point of going to see him at Gentry's in Chicago on the coldest subzero days when I knew the turnout would be meager. For reasons I never knew, he never once picked on me or singled me out (which was a great relief as those of you who knew him and his act will appreciate). In those days he sang a lot more. Khris had a terrific voice and he sang songs he wrote. I think being a composer must be the least appreciated aspects of his talent. My favorite was Where Does Love Go. But he stopped singing his own songs and eventually got away from singing altogether because, he said, it was the comedy that brought people in. I always felt that was a terrible shame. But he decided we should be good friends and so we were for some twenty five years. I never laughed so much as when I was with or talking to Khris and for that I am forever grateful.
My sincere condolences to all his family and close friends. Remember and keep him always in your prayers and in your laughter.

How dreadful a loss that this kind soul left us too soon. I loved his overalls and how he use to laugh at himself. His humor was “Don Rickles” like but you knew in your heart, that it was just his stage persona.I didn’t know him personally but I could tell that off stage he was a lot different. He loved to sing and the songs he sung were about hope and love and fun stuff.I’m really going to miss him.

I first met Khris at Gentry’s on Halstead in Chicago. He loved teasing me and i loved being teased by him. One night 21 years ago, I came into Chicago from Detroit with a very sick William F Dufty, of Lady Sings the Blues fame. And married to Gloria Swanson. I was told Bill had only days to live so i brought him to see Khris’s show. Well as it turned out, Khris recognized Bill and told the whole audience Bill’s life story. The audience instantly was clamoring for Bill. Bill loved the recognition and just couldn’t get over the adoration that Khris brought the crowd to. Bill Dufty lived another 3-1/2 years thanks to Khris that night and taught me a valuable lesson that all any of us need is a little appreciation & recognition. As a result of Khris and that evening, I wrote a 20 page short film “Saving Bill Dufty” Khris agreed to play himself. He will be hard if not impossible to replace !! Love you Khris, Willem

I would drive to San Jose to see Khris's performances. His show had the loving insults of Don Rickles, the mature language of Richard Pryor and piano playing talent and showmanship of Liberace. Khris was a hometown celebrity that everyone should be proud of. If Hollister had a "Walk of the Stars", Khris has earned his "STAR". My condolences to his father, family and many friends.
