Obituary of Adonna Jean Cook

Adonna Jean Cook of Hollister, CA passed away in hospice care surrounded by her five children on May 30, 2019. Adonna was born in Cherry Grove, Minnesota on April 24, 1932 to parents Darrell & Doris Mensink. She was married to Eugene E. Cook on February 13, 1954. Eugene preceded her in death in August 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Curtis and sister Yvonne. She leaves behind five children: Michael Cook (Lorraine), Karen Ahmari (Khalil), Mary Zuchowski (Paul), Debra Cook & John Cook (Carol). Her grandchildren Stephen (Erin), Jacob (Jessica), Cameron (Allison), Jonathan, Amir (Megan), Jordan, Sarah, Justin, Irene, Abigail & Madilyn were cherished by their grandmother. Adonna was blessed with two great grandchildren, Colin & Katie. She was also loved my many nieces, nephews, in-laws and lifelong friends.

 

Adonna enjoyed traveling, volunteering, and church activities throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed traveling internationally and was successful in visiting all 50 states. Adonna was also dedicated to her community as a volunteer auxiliary at Hazel Hawkins Hospital. For years, she enjoyed her church community as a YLI member and Alter Society volunteer at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

 

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Angels In-Home Care of Hollister and especially her caregiver of more than five years, Bella Celeste.

 

A funeral mass will be held in her honor at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tres Pinos, CA on June 10, 2019 at 11:00am. Adonna will be interned with Eugene at Saint Benedict Church Columbarium in Hollister, CA.
