Obituary of Gregory Mark Dziak

Please share a memory of Gregory to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On Mother's Day, May 12, 2019, we lost our brother Greg to an automobile accident near Hollister, California.  Greg was born on December 13, 1957 in Anaconda, Montana to John and Carolyn Dziak,   and in his youth attended schools in various states before the family settled in Seattle, Washington.  It was there he graduated from high school,  then attended college at Washington State University where he obtained a degree in Animal Physiology, with aspirations of becoming a large animal Veterinarian.  Greg was  a free spirit, and decided that he would take some time away and return to Montana where he cowboy-ed for several ranches in southwest Montana,  riding fence and moving cows.  The last outfit he worked for was the Seitz Ranch at Willow Glen.

Though he would miss Montana, Greg decided to go back to school and become a Mechanical Engineer.  He attended and graduated from Seattle University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and started his new career with Jorgenson Steel in Seattle. With an extremely analytical and inquisitive mind, Greg made numerous career moves and eventually became a Senior Engineer with Fusion Design in Campbell, California.  At Fusion he was able to travel to many great places in the world, developing a special bond to Australia and its people.

Even though Greg missed the mountains of Montana, his real true love was California and Hawaii and the ocean where he surfed, deep-sea fished or just spent time on  many beaches, passionately fighting to keep them clean.  Not to lose his mountain experiences he was  also an excellent downhill skier,  played ice hockey, was a licensed falconer and fished fresh water streams and rivers.  In addition,  Greg was enamored with all genre's of music, with  classic Rock and Roll, early Jazz, and old Country/Western being his favorites.  He would search out artists or their acquaintances and learn about what drove them with their lyrics and music. His knowledge of this music was simply amazing.  At the time of his death Greg was becoming an accomplished guitar player.

In California, Greg found a new home at Casa De Fruta, where he (and now all of us) have a very close and extended family by ten-fold.  His extended family included:  special friends Peggy and her family;  Neil (a great guy); and the owners and friends of the place he called home.  Also, Mark Brinkerhoff and Mary Adams from Fusion Design as well as his colleagues.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents; John and Carolyn Dziak, grandparents, many aunts and uncles as well as cousins.  He is survived by his brother David (Carrie Sarlund) Dziak; sisters Mary Thomas (Matthew), and Jean Robb (Scott);  niece Alea;  uncles, aunts, cousins and his beloved pets  Evie and Puss.

God Speed Greg, and as you would say “Get Some”.

Cremation has taken place with private family services to follow at a later date.  Friends and family are invited to view or add photos,  and share memories in the family's on line guest book at www.grunnagle.com.   Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home,  870 San Benito St., Hollister CA   95023
