Obituary of Josefina Banderas Ramos
Josefina Banderas Ramos, departed for Heaven on January 31, 2019, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 90 years of age. She was born March 25, 1928 to Luis Banderas and Ester Mora Piceno, in Uruapan, Michoacan Mexico. She married Jesus Navarro Ramos in 1956, moved to Watsonville, then moved to Hollister in 1960 where she remained.
She was widowed by her late husband, Jesus Navarro Ramos. She is the second youngest of 5 children. She is survived by her daughters, Alicia Ramos Johnson and Angie Ramos, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Josefina led a full, active and joyous life. She moved to the United States of America in 1957 to work in farm fields of Watsonville, CA. After having their daughters, she moved to Hollister, CA. She worked at Tri-Valley, Almaden Vineyards, and Headstart. She was dedicated to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. This led her to start her own daycare, Grandma’s Daycare, where she cared for local neighborhood children.
She was active member of Sacred Heart Church in Hollister, CA. Her patron saint was St Jude and would take frequent trips to San Francisco to visit the Shrine of St Jude at St Dominic’s Catholic Church.
She loved to cook, a passion she shared with family and close friends. She looked forward to holidays where she would gather family to make tamales. She enjoyed Sunday afternoon drives which ended with lunch at In-N-Out. She loved going to the movie theater. She enjoyed watching action movies and having her hot dog and soda. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outside in her garden.
