Obituary of Patricia Lee Skow

Patricia "Pat" Lee Skow departed for Heaven on January 17, 2019 in Salinas, CA at the age of 89. She was born on July 16, 1929, in San Francisco, CA to Gerald and Ruth Peck. Her siblings include Eugene Peck, Yvonne Peck Montag, Carrie Peck Murray, and Shirley Peck Robens. She grew up on Frye Lane and attended Pacheco School. She graduated from San Benito High School in 1947 and attended every reunion until the last planned event in 2017.

Pat had the biggest heart and was the most loving person you could ever meet and would do anything for anyone without thinking twice. She married Douglas Floyd Skow on October 16, 1949 and settled at the family ranch on Cienega Road. Together they raised four children, Mark, Craig, Jerry and Kelly. Patricia’s love of flowers led to her career in the floral business. She was self-taught and made quite a name for herself in the Hollister area. She was a dedicated and hard worker who loved what she did. She worked in several different locations even owning her own flower shop at one time; Pat’s Flower Basket. She was the inspiration for the flower shop that is currently next to Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson. As her children grew up she volunteered many an hour at Union School, served as a Union 4-H leader and was the greatest team Mom for her kids sporting events and Rodeo. After their children were raised Doug and Pat enjoyed traveling in their RV. They had season tickets to 49er games and loved to tailgate at the home games. Pat is preceded in death by the love of her life, Doug, her parents, siblings Eugene, Carrie and Shirley and In-Laws, Leslie and Carrie Skow.

She is survived by her sister Yvonne, her children Mark (Janice),Craig, Jerry (Rochelle) and Kelly. Her grandchildren Cody (Katie), Jason (Jessica), Jarrod (Jill), Trace (Allison), Jade (Matt), Karisa, Nathan (Brittany), Kadi, Karli (Jake) and Her great grandchildren: Gracie, Josie, Averie, Lauren, Rylee, Sadie, Kennedy,Kooper, Kolbie, Brody, Brock and Morgan Skow, Paisley and Leland Mitchell and Kaylie Peret.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 2, at 11 am in the chapel of the Grunnagle Ament Nelson funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Pat has requested any donations be on behalf of St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Pat will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace and we love you.
