I couldn't hope to articulate what my Aunt Kathy meant to me over the years in whatever simple words I could muster. To do justice to my Aunt Kathy Barnes, a beautiful Barnes woman through and through, and the caliber of my Aunt and what she meant to our entire family, can only be spoken of in similarly beautifully words to a Mrs bixby who'd lost 5 of 6 sons in the revelutionary war. The correspondence is as verbatim with minor adjustments:
I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile us from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But, I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of a family Kathy lived to love. I pray that our heavenly father may assuage the anguish of our bereavement and leave us only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that is ours to have known a woman so full of love and life.

To the Barnes family. I have known this family for 30 years and Kathy was a second mom to me. She was such a fun, free spirited, loving, caring person and her laugh could light up a room. I have so many memories of her as a teen and my heart hurts deeply. Words can never ease the pain you are feeling but God has a beautiful angel and she will forever be a part of all of us. Connie and Marcus, she raised you both with so much love and you both have her words of wisdom to carry you in your future. I love you dearly and my prayers are with you.
