Alicia Filice, (Licia Cosco Filice) 88 years old of Hollister, passed on March 18, 2016 to join her beloved husband John S. Filice. Alicia was born to the late Gaetano and Julia Cosco (Filice) on January 12, 1928 in Figline, Italy with a childhood in Piane Crati in the region of Calabria. At seven years old, Alicia traveled to America with her mother Julia to live with her Lico grandparents in San Jose. When her Mother remarried they moved to Gilroy to create a beautiful new family with Gene Filice, sisters Sara and Anna and brother Bill. She completed her education in Gilroy. In 1949 she moved to Hollister when she married Johnnie and they started a family, a grocery store business (D & F Market), also worked at the Hollister Canning Company and later a retail career at JC Penney’s. Number one on her list was family, friends and preparing pasta and Italian goodies for the grandchildren. Alicia and Johnnie raised three children, Rosemarie (Jerry), Jim (Kathrine), Bob (Beth). They had eight grand children Patrick (Pam), Kristopher (Heather), Karen (Chris), Mark (Claire), Joseph, Soquel, Natalie, and eight great grand children. After retirement she was a volunteer “Grandma” teacher’s aide for 18 years at Cerra Vista School. Alicia belonged to Sacred Heart/Saint Benedict’s Church and belonged to the ICF.
