Obituary of Peter P. Gong

Pete Gong passed away August 19, 2017 surrounded by family following a brief illness.

Pete was born in Richmond, California to Leong and So Gong. In 1957, the family moved to Hollister where they owned and operated Central Supermarket for 25 years.

Pete owned and operated Sports Unlimited from 1972-1987. He was an avid trap shooter, fisherman and enjoyed anything pertaining guns. Pete was a member of the Hollister Rotary Club for over 40 years where he served in many roles including President from 1980-1981, Secretary and Treasurer. He was also active in the Hollister Chamber of Commerce.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents Leong and So Gong; brother Francis Gong; sister Nancy Gong; and son Darren Gong. He is survived by his children and their spouses; Brian Gong & partner Irma Lopez, Gregory & Melissa Gong, and Jennifer Edge. Granddaughters Alexandra & Ashlynn Gong and Alyssa Sousa; Step granddaughters Jasmine Hollingsworth & Kalonni Steib; his sister and brother in law Betty & John Lee; brother and sister in law Edward & Judy Gong; sister Helen Gong; and sister in law Elaine Gong; 4 nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday August 29th from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Grunnagle-Ament- Nelson Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday August 30th at 11:00am at the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Darren Gong Memorial Scholarship. Please make checks payable to the Community Fund and notate in the memo line "Rotary Scholarship Fund."

The family wants to thank Bonita Springs Hospice Care for the exceptional care they provided. Penny, Pam, Brandy and Irene- you made this incredibly difficult time much easier with your compassion and professionalism.
