Obituary of Carl William Emerich
Carl Emerich, 80, of San Juan Bautista, died peacefully at his home on April 12th, 2016.
Carl was born in Pottsville, PA, the son of the late Lee and Irene Blankenhorn Emerich. He was a 1955 graduate of Cressona High School where he played football, basketball and baseball all four years.
Carl served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and was honorably discharged in October of 1960.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Emerich and Pearl Dewald and two brothers, Harry and Milton Emerich.
Carl was an avid sports fan. He coached San Juan Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams. He was also a little League umpire. He played City Recreation basketball and played outfield for the Holex softball team. He was a die-hard New York Yankees fan.
Carl was an outstanding golfer who won many tournaments at Bolado Park Golf Club as well as at Ridgemark Golf and Country Club. He served as president of Ridgemark Men’s Club in 1984 and won second place in the Championship Flight that same year.
Carl is survived by his wife, Jane Scott Emerich; daughter Stephanie (John) Larose of Phoenix, AZ and brother Cliff of PA.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the American Heart /Lung Association or the Anzar High School Golf Team c/o the funeral home.
