Obituary of Ernest "Ernie" Harry Borello

Ernest “Ernie” Harry Borello suddenly passed away on June 27, 2017 at the age of 71 at Santa Clara Valley Medical Hospital in San Jose, CA.

Born on August 10, 1945 in Palo Alto, CA, the eldest son to Ernest F. and Nancy F. Borello. Ernie graduated from James Lick High School in San Jose where he grew up with his two brothers. He received his Associates Degree from San Jose City College. Then went to a four-year trade school for sheet metal where he graduated with honors. He became a journeyman and worked most of his career at Therma where he became the superintendent and successfully managed multi-million dollar mechanical projects.

Ernie was a wonderful, loving, affectionate, caring, happy-go-lucky man-always smiling. A true family man, an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the outdoors, be it taking his motor-home camping or working on the land of his home. He was happiest whenever he was with his wife taking trips to Collins Lake, Pismo, Jackson Rancheria and Arizona. The two were inseparable, a couple who truly loved one another and did everything together. They were soul mates.

When he married Alice in 1985, they lived in San Jose for 15 years. In 2000, Ernie was excited to move to Hollister to build their dream home on his wife’s family property. He loved dancing; in fact, he met his wife at a country western lounge, where they often stole the dance floor with their fantastic moves.

He enjoyed teaching the younger generations how to use his bow and arrow, making a target practice for them, all the kids loved hanging out with ‘Uncle Ern’! He would take his nephews, niece and grandchildren riding around the property on his ATV who he called ‘Lil Jewel’.

He loved going to the movies and watching old westerns over and over again it was if he’d not seen them before. He looked forward to his pheasant and deer hunting trips with his brother Ken. They shared a special bond between them.

Ernie had many hobbies, from playing in pool competitions, bowling league with his wife, fishing on his boat, refurbishing an old 34 Ford, riding motorcycles to playing in poker tournaments. Poker was one of his true passions. He befriended everyone everywhere he went and everyone loved him.

He was an incredibly talented and creative man that could build anything. He built from scratch his own smoker, to smoke his deer meat; made wooden canes for his friends who needed one, metal hearts and knick-knacks for the yard, always with the love of his wife in his heart.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife Alice Borello of 31 years. His children: Sandy Yates (Brian), Jennifer Borchelt (John), and Tiffany Williams. His beloved brothers: Ken Borello (Valerie), Steve Borello (Mickey) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Brother-in-law: Tom Lucas (Connie) and Mother-in-law Bessie Lucas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kylie Borchelt, Noah Borchelt, Jackson Yates, Brandon and Cameron Williams.

Proceeded into death by his parents Ernest and Nancy Borello, son Craig Williams and Father-in-law Tony Lucas.
