Obituary of Alden R. Wiltse
Alden Ruben Wiltse (born Johnson) known by his family and friends as “Murph”, came into this world on June 21, 1917 went to our Lord on April 19, 2017.
Alden was born in Minnesota, the youngest child of John Albert and Esther Amanda Johnson. His parents and only sister, Lorena, preceded him in death.
During WWII, he enlisted early and served in the U.S. Army for the duration of the war. He was stationed in Italy and North Africa and earned a Purple Heart during the conflict.
After WWII, Alden used his GI Bill and trained in Radio and TV. He spent his entire career in commercial and public television until his retirement in 1974. He was particularly fond of working on the Mr. Rogers children’s program.
On Valentine’s Day in 1955, he married Elizabeth “Beth” (Feys) MacCharles and they were happily married until her passing in 1982. They raised three children, Mary, Robert and Andy.
Alden is survived by his three children, his six grandchildren: Israel, Alden, Ryan, Jared, Carolyn and Anna; and his great grandchild Ruben.
Alden and Elizabeth shared their love of nature, art, music, literature and companionship with their family and friends. They will forever have a place of warmth in the hearts and minds of everyone who met them.
