My deepest condolences to the family of Edna Martin. Edna was a special person and a special friend. We would question how we actually met, but thank goodness for me, we did. Edna was sharp as a tack, had the memory of an elephant, and the energy of 3 grown men. We had so much fun mixing business with battles of wit, laughs over a hamburger during lunch, or dinners at Paine's or Ridgemark. Sometimes, and these were the most special times, Edna and I would sit in her office and have deep philosophical conversations. I always felt so grateful and appreciative of Edna's friendship, especially when she would make the comment, "I don't know why I'm telling you this, I don't say this to just anybody."
I always admired Edna's ability to hold the firm line concerning business and yet be gracious during the same conversation. Edna was a mentor, business manager, networker, an "Ann Landers" and a friend. All of us know of our private conversations with Edna, the pause after the talk, and the knowing that during that moment, the huge love and care that Edna possessed, was being given to you.

I remember Edna when she was neighbors with my two favorite Aunties, Virginia and Mary Filice on Prune Street. During the early 2000's I moved into my Aunties' house. At that time, I truly appreciated Edna as the landlord of her house; she chose quality tenants who enhanced our neighborhood. In high school, I got to meet her beautiful Granddaughter, Julie Beth. Julie has become a great friend and her personality shines as Edna's did. Knowing Julie, I can tell that Edna did a great job instilling ambition, straightforwardness and most of all grace. Edna's spirit continues to live!

Edna touched the lives of many during her lifetime of service in San Benito County. I first met Edna when I was in my senior year of high school working at Fair View Packing. Edna was one of the 'lab girls' (as they were called back then!) and was a stern but loving taskmaster as I began my life-long career in the food business.
After my mother's passing, Edna became our family's property manager in Hollister for many years. I enjoyed our frequent phone calls and catching up on "Hollister News" from Edna and our personal friendship deepened as our professional relationship grew.
My condolences go out to Vince and the family - Edna will be missed by many.

Dear Family,
I am saddened to hear of Edna's passing. I remember her fondly from my teen years and later in life. She was the landlord when I worked at Fiesta Yogurt back in the early 90's. Later, around 1994 we crossed paths when I worked at Hollister Coffee Roasting and we were fast friends. She was one tough cookie and always had a smile and a remark with that twinkle in her eye, I loved that she did not sugar coat a thing! While working at Hollister Coffee (where the parking garage lawn now sits) she was in a bind and asked me to cover the front desk at Cinderella Motel because someone had called in sick - I had never worked at a hotel at at only 19 I did exactly what she asked :). Later, I would see her occasionally when she occupied one of the offices above where the Vault is now then later near Santa Ana Rd. I would say hello and she always seemed to remember me even so many years later. I found comfort and maybe even took for granted, knowing she was someone I would always see around town. I will miss her personality the most. My thoughts are with her family. I will miss you Edna.

I am going to miss my babysitter. What wonderful talks we have had. She is "one in a million." I am so glad that I was able to see her even if it was at the end of her life. Dear Edna you always asked about me and you never told of your recent suffering but i knew. Love you forever and my husband,Bill is greeting you at the gates of heaven waiting to make you laugh and talk rentals. In Sympathy, Pauline and Family
