My condolences to the family of James - he lived an amazing and adventurous life. I'm writing an article regarding a plane that went down in Toro Park Salinas (just south of Hollister) in 1961 - a Cessna 170B - that was registered to the Capper Flying Club (reg N3191A). As I understand it, the pilot was with his wife and 3 young children and he was able tot pilot the plane to safely land despite the aircraft breaking up - and no one was injured. There is an amazing tale to tell for future generations as the plane can still be found via a challenging hike in Toro Park. Please contact me to help me tell this story :) Kind Regards, Rob

Our father was a very conscientious pilot and had a spotless record for the 30+ years he flew: no accidents, forced landings or violations. We recall him telling us the story of this fellow-member of the flying club who had the accident, fortunately without any casualties. We are surprised to hear the plane remains on the hillside.
