Ish was one of the kindness, most generous people I knew. I regret not keeping in touch after we moved. I have missed his infectious smile and his constant kidding. I hope to meet him again on the Great Ocean.

Our deepest sympathy's to the entire Hernandez Familia. Our Lord Jesus Christ has another wonderful man by his side.
I grew up with Ish, through elementary school, Jr. High and High school.
Ish lived on Autumn St. and I lived on Montgomery St. around the corner from each other. I remember his Pops called him, Boy. Ish was the solid friend in my life growing up, always ready to lend a hand, with always something funny to say. Growing up with the Hernandez Familia was an honor, the best Family I had the privilege of knowing, growing up with, the bested I've ever known.
I remember cruising down First St. downtown San Jose, Ish had a, if I remember right, a 1963 or 64 ford falcon, it wasn't the best looking cruiser, but it got us around. Ish's first real cruiser was his 1966 Chevy, it was light green when he purchased it, then he painted it Midnight Blue, put some cool wheels on it, and glass pack mufflers, Ish fixed this ride up nicely, he was the envy of many at Lincoln High, his car motivated me to by a 1967 Chevy, I also fixed it up, and painted it blue, just a tad off Midnight Blue, we were cruising, downtown, to and through the parks, with our oldies playing at just the right loudness for all to hear and boogie too.
I spoke to Ish telephonically just before his PG&E retirement, we were to reconnect, but for whatever reason, this did not happen, and this makes me very sad that we did not connect, Ish will always be in my mind.
Ish was a great and wonderful guy/man, I learned many things from this man in our growing up years,,, how to smile when your down, how to make others smile when they are down, and how to smile and talk to chicks, he was a friend and solid man to all,, he had a way of making each day,,, a wonderful day.
Again, our deepest sympathy's to the entire Hernandez Familia.
Al & Marilyn Padron.

Ismael became more than just an acquaintance to me when our family had to move with short notice. He showed up at my house with his workers, and in short time had all our furniture loaded on his flatbed truck safely rolling down the road, I will forever remember Ish for his generosity and helpfulness. God's peace and Blessings

Dear Jeri, Amanda, Elena, Kristine, Ian & Family,
We are so sorry for your loss. What an amazing man your Ish was. In the little amount of time I've spent with your family Ishmael reminded me so much of my dad; strong, steady, a wonderful sense of humor and adventure, and so loving and giving of himself. I know he touched so many lives. Michael has so much love and respect for his Uncle Ishmael and I know Michael would not be the wonderful man that he grew up to be if it weren't for the example set by Ishmael. We keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

My sincere condolences, Ishmo was a fine human being and the obituary was very accurate, I did not know him well, however, the times we met, family gathering and such, he was friendly and gracious and always left a memorable impression.
I am comforted by my belief that this material world of form and substance is not the end, but the beginning, we shall all meet again in the next reality whatever that is, and his energy (his spiritual energy which can not be created nor destroyed) lives on and awaits for us on the other side to greet us and love us some more.
The currency we take to the next reality is not the possessions we accumulate here, the cars, the boats, the homes, the money,
but rather the love we gave freely to the people we have met on our journey through this lifetime,
Ishmo has accumulated much wealth to be taken with him into the next reality. Whatever that is.
If he were to leave us a message, I believe it would be to love others as he has loved us.

Jerri and Daughters, You are in my prayers as I grief for your loss. Ish will forever remain in my mind as the electric city hero! For many years, even when he wasn't the correct person to call, he made sure all the fourth graders at Cerra Vista learned about gas and electrical safety. We all loved those demonstrations! May he rest in peace.

My condolences to the family and friends. Just by reading the words in the obituary, I can feel the love others had for Ismael and the love he had for them and life in general. Life is such a precious gift from our Heavenly Father. Knowing that God promises us the hope to enjoy endless life in the near future brings me comfort when I think of loved ones that have fallen asleep in death. (1 Thessalonians 4:13) God promises them as well a chance at life once again. (John 5:28-29) JW.org
