Amelia was born in Castelo Branco, Faial, Azores in 1927 and passed away peacefully on March 24, 2017 in Hollister. Amelia married Jose' Antonio de Lima in March of 1953 and they were happily married for 42 years until Joe's passing in 1995. Amelia is survived by her loving daughter and son-in law Mary and Blaise Kostielney, her two grandsons Nicholas (Crystina) and Steven Kostielney, and three great grandchildren, Osborne, Kaylene Amelia and Blaise Kostielney all of Hollister. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews in California, Canada, and Faial. Amelia was especially fond of her nephews Jose' Faria of Castelo Branco and Manuel (Adele) Leal of Hollister. Amelia is preceded in death by her mother and father, her sisters, Albertina, Maria de Lourdes, Filomena and her brother Jose'. Amelia came to the United States with Jose' and Mary in 1959 after the massive eruption of the Capelinhos Volcano on the island of Faial. The family settled -briefly in Half-Moon Bay, Escalon and then found their home in the San Juan Valley and Hollister. Above all, Amelia loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. She loved her flowers and garden and she could always be found in her yard, tending to her roses. Amelia was an incredible cook, often making traditional Azorean delicacies for her family. Her Portuguese Sweet Bread was legendary as were her Filhos. Mom was a part of every family activity and her love, laughter and sense of humor will be missed. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM and recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6 PM on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the Grunnagle Ament-Nelson Chapel. In honor of Amelia's request, interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the California Peace Officers Memorial Foundation C/O of the funeral home, 870 San Benito Street, Hollister CA, 95023
