Obituary of Sharon Lane Waters

Sharon Lane Waters (Read); beloved daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, gently passed into God’s hands at peace in her home on Friday December 30, 2016 at the age of 73. She is survived by her daughters Kimberlie van Dam, Tammy and Lisa, her granddaughter Haley, son-in-law Brad, niece Heather Read and nephew Jeremy Read. Sharon, daughter of Leo and Elaine Read and native Californian, was born in San Francisco, CA on November 13, 1943 at St. Francis Hospital. Sharon grew up on Moraga Ranch before it officially became the town of Moraga. She had a wonderful childhood growing up in the country enjoying a simpler time in California’s history riding horses, spending time with her brother Tom and playing with her childhood friends. After graduating high school Sharon married Mitch Waters in Lafayette, CA. in 1965 and lived in the area until moving to a farm in Lawrenceburg, KY in 1970. Mitch had 2 daughters from a previous marriage, Tammy (presently 54), and Lisa (presently 53) whom Sharon loved as her own. On October 9, 1966 Sharon and Mitch welcomed their youngest daughter Kimberlie. Sharon raised her children with her Irish strength, spirit and unconditional love. After their divorce in 1975, Sharon moved back to her native state eventually settling down in Dublin, CA. where she raised her 3 daughters. Dublin was home to Sharon and her family for over 40 years where she continued to build a community of lifelong friendships and family. Sharon loved people and as such her home was always open and a party was just a few ticks and a few people away. Her Christmas parties were legendary expanding eventually to some 50+ friends, family and friends that became family. The love of Sharon’s life, other than her children, was Floyd Macedo of Copperopolis, CA. Sharon and Floyd enjoyed going out to dinner, entertaining, traveling, camping and fishing in addition to spending time with friends and family. They were kindred spirits and after years of living alone found their true soulmates and spent every day exploring and having the time of their lives. Sharon was an experienced accounting specialist for San Leandro Electric company for many years before embarking on her journey as a professional nanny. As a nanny, Sharon helped care for and raise the children of 4 families. As a naturally happy and patient person, Sharon became a loving and caring figure in the lives of the many children she cared for. From her daughters to friends to the children of the families she nannied for, Sharon was mom to many, a friend to anyone she met and always shared a ray of sunshine with her positive outlook on life. Sharon will be loved and missed by the many people she touched in her life. At Sharon’s request, a Celebration of Life and Irish Wake are being held.
