Frances was a very special lady. She always made me feel like family every time I stopped by to see Susie. I enjoyed talking with her and checking out her garden. I remember a few years ago how she lit up when Bradley and I showed up and told her Happy Birthday and presented her with a gift and balloon. She wanted to know how we knew it was her birthday - must have been magic. Her girlish innocence and charm was a welcome breath of fresh air.
Keep smiling Frances.

I knew Frances only as "The Mama", which is how I shall always think of her. Her gardening skills both intimidated and inspired me. She could make anything grow in a patch of hard dirt. She'd patiently work her magic and turn her seeds and slips of vines into lush, topical forests.
I loved how she would welcome me into her home and then try to convince me that not only was bitter melon good for me, but that it tasted good, too! Then she would chuckle when I'd have to spit it out in the sink. She would pull this prank on me at least once a year because I always fell for it.
Wherever she is, I know she's got a garden.

We were saddened to learn of your Mama's passing, but what a treasure to have lived such a long and productive life! Always true to her nature, when she was done, she was done. We enjoyed meeting her so many times and chatting with her while she fed us, because, of course, we had to be hungry :-) While we are unable to be with you for the rosary and funeral this week, we send our best wishes and will be thinking of you. God bless.
