Obituary of Madeline Furtado Andrade

Please share a memory of Madeline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Madeline Rose Andrade, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on December 23, 2016 at age 96 in her home in Hollister, CA, with all of her children at her side. Born in Hollister on November 19, 1920 to Antonio Furtado of Faial, Azores and Maria Pacheco of Paicines, CA, she spent most of her childhood living in Gilroy. She was co-valedictorian of Gilroy High School and graduated with her associate degree from Salinas Junior College (now Hartnell College) in Salinas, CA. Madeline returned to her roots in San Benito County when she married her spouse, Tony S. Andrade on October 6, 1946. Madeline and Tony shared 59 years together until his passing in 2005. With patience, kindness, humility, and a commitment to God and Family she calmly guided her 5 sons and 1 daughter through their childhoods and wisely supported them on their life paths. Her surviving children are Tom and wife Kathy Andrade, Gary and wife Terry Andrade, John and wife Terri Andrade, Anthony and wife Katie Andrade, Marie and husband Robert Goulart, and Joe and wife Mary Andrade. Her legacy includes 16 beautiful grandchildren Allen Andrade, Neal Andrade, Allison Robinson, Wayne Andrade, Gary Andrade Jr., Jamie Fowles, Kellie Pellin, Julie Chapman, David Andrade, Nick Andrade, Catherine Albers, Rev. Father Michael Andrade, Ryan Andrade, Justin Andrade, Jason Andrade, and Nicole Andrade, along with 26 Great Grandchildren. In her unique, quiet way Madeline touched the life of everyone who knew her. She and Tony embodied and instilled the values of family, faith, integrity, honesty, and strong work ethic in all of their 60+ loved ones. We are forever blessed for being given the gift of such a beautiful mother and woman. Madeline’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff at Angels In-Home Care, including Mylene and especially Suzette for their kind and loving care to our dear mother. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church.
