Obituary of Mary Edmondson
Mary (Cosco) Edmondson, 96, of Hollister, California, passed away on January 3, 2025.
Mary was born in Hollister to Julia (Felice) Cosco and Eugene Cosco on August 8, 1928. She attended Sacred Heart School, and graduated from San Benito High School in 1946. While attending San Benito Junior College she met John (Jack) Edmondson. They married on April 18, 1948, and had two children, Gary and Joan. Mary worked for the San Benito County Health Department for 25 years, retiring in 1987.
She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church, and also committed time to the Italian Catholic Federation and Hazel Hawkins Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed attending events at the Elks Lodge and S.I.R.S.
Mary was competitive in all things she tried. She broke the high jump record in high school and made a hole in one at Bolado Golf Course after taking up the sport in retirement. Later in life she adored watching grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. Mary loved traveling and experiencing new places and things. She always enjoyed bingo, pedro, bridge, and dominos. She relished these adventures and games even more in the company of her numerous friends, relatives and in-laws including the Felice side of her family.
Mary is survived by her children Gary Edmondson (Karen) and Joan Moore (Tim), Grandchildren Kristin Mansfield (Chuck), Jennifer Hall, Mark Edmondson (Gabbie), and Juliana Hernandez (Tony), and precious great-grandchildren Braiden and Bryce Hernandez and John and Ben Mansfield. She is preceded in death by her husband John (Jack), parents Eugene and Julia Cosco, and brother, Frank Cosco.
A Celebration of Life will be held February 13th at 12:30 at Paine’s Restaurant.
