Obituary of Bonnie L. Laverone

Bonnie Laverone passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, in Fair Oaks, California. Gratefully her children and grandchildren were able to be with her near and at the time of her death. Bonnie was born July 24, 1931, to William and Ada Conley in Bakersfield, California, and spent the early years of her life in Shafter and Berkeley, CA. She lived most of her life in San Juan Bautista. Bonnie and her late husband, Kenny, owned and operated B&K Union 76 Service Station and Towing in San Juan Bautista for 33 years. For many years Bonnie worked at the San Juan Bautista Branch of the US Post Office before retiring in 1979. Bonnie was the first woman elected to the San Juan Bautista Union School District Board of Trustees where she served for 20 years, many as the Board President or the Clerk of the Board. She was an active member of Old Mission San Juan Bautista Parish, the San Juan Bautista Historical Society, and the Native Daughters of the Golden West. Bonnie and Kenny traveled, with good friends, to Europe several times and were avid golfers after retirement. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Laverone Sr., better known as Kenny to most of San Juan Bautista. She is survived by her children: Kenneth Laverone Jr. OFM of Santa Barbara, CA, Linda DeVelbiss (Jeff) of Ripon, CA, Janet Aubuchon (Glenn) of Boise, Idaho, Katherine Edwards (Mike) of San Juan Bautista, CA, and Edward Laverone DBA, of Lincoln, CA. Bonnie has eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren with one more on the way. She has one surviving brother, Murrill Conley of Lincoln, CA, and many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Resurrection will be at the Old Mission San Juan Bautista at noon on Friday, October 18, 2024, with a reception to follow at the St. Francis Retreat Center following inurnment at the San Juan Bautista cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Francis Retreat Center building fund in her memory.
