Obituary of Dorothy Rosemary Lemos
Dorothy Rosemary Lemos passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 25, 2024 in Hollister, CA.
Dorothy “Dot” was born on May 28, 1929 as Ceferina Cembellin where the Sisters at Sacred Heart Parrish School later changed her name.
Her parents, Felipe and Gabriela Cembellin immigrated from Spain and settled in Hollister. Dorothy was one of seven children. She has been preceded in death by her brothers Leo, Victor, Larry and Frank Cembellin along with Martina Losada and Natalie Cobb. She is survived by daughters Tonya (Vince)Miguel, Stephanie (John)Miguel and Gae (Joey)Miguel. Her legacy also includes seven grandchildren and spouses, Shad (Sarah)Melgarejo, Tiffany Melgarejo, Matthew Miguel, Paige (Tommy)Ketchum, Makenzie (Haydon)Turpin, Chace Miguel, and Brady (Kailey)Miguel. She also has three great grandchildren, Bobby Moore, Rocco Melgarejo, and Tatum Turpin.
While in Hollister, Dorothy began her career at the Bank of America as a teller in the early 1950’s. Mid 1960’s she took time off to raise her three daughters. Later she returned to work at Hazel Hawkins Hospital, followed by Wheeler Hospital, and where she retired at South Valley Hospital. Dorothy always enjoyed working with the public and helping others. She never met a stranger!
Dorothy was very active in the PTA at Sacred Heart Parrish School while her daughters attended. She was also a member of the Spanish Lodge. Her favorite pastimes included bowling weekly at Hollister Lanes and gardening in her yard. Her most favorite of all was attending all of the sports events for her grandchildren. Everyone in the grandstands knew her as “Grandma Dot”.
Dorothy was the most dedicated and devoted mother and grandmother. She always put her family first. She will be dearly missed.
As her family, we would like to express our utmost gratitude to the management and staff at Mabie Southside Skilled Nursing Facility and also to acknowledge the excellent care our mother received.
