Please share a memory of Guadalupe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Guadalupe C. Salcedo, age 75, loving mother, and devoted grandmother, passed away in the early hours of May 24, 2024, surrounded by her family. Lupe, as she was known, was born in 1949 in the small town of Tlaltenango San Ramon Zacatecas, Mexico. Her family came to the states through Texas and Los Angeles before settling in Hollister, CA, when she was about 8 years old. She was the oldest of the girls and grew up surrounded by her large family. She had seven brothers and three sisters. She and her family spent their years growing up in a home on the Corotto Ranch off Southside Road. Lupe attended Southside Elementary School until the 8th grade and went on to graduate from Hollister High School in 1967. At or about that time, Lupe met Rafael C. Salcedo. They married in 1968 and started their family soon after. Lupe and Rafael were married just shy of 25 years when Rafael became ill and passed away in 1993. Lupe was a young widow at the age of 43. The love of family and friends and her deep faith got her through those difficult years, as she finished raising her family. Lupe was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She had been doing this since she was a young girl. She helped raise her siblings, her children, caring for her grandchildren and devoting her later years to her beloved mom, Consuleo Correa. Lupe was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and grace. She had an amazing personality and touched the lives of many - a sincere way for making everyone feel special and loved. She had many beloved friends near and far. Lupe was the heart and soul of our family. She was always there for us with an encouraging word, a big hug, or even just a recipe. She was a woman of strong faith and character. She instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. Being a mother was one of the most important parts of her life, a role that, in her words, gave her, “much happiness and her greatest joy.” Lupe was preceded in death by her loving husband Rafael Salcedo, her brothers Arthur Correa, Robert Correa, Javier Correa, and her mother, Consuelo Correa. She will be greatly missed by her adoring partner, Ignacio Zepeda, her children, Ralph Salcedo (Tina), Patricia Salcedo (Michael), David Salcedo and Steven Salcedo (Erica). She will also be missed by her grandbabies young and old: Kenneth, Ariannah,Isaiah, Jonah, Angelina, Nathaniel, Ethan, Cassius, Eliana, Amelia, Esteban, Esaias, and her great-granddaughter, Audrina. She will be missed by her honorary grandchildren, Avery and Brooklyn. She will also be missed by her surviving siblings, Elida Avila (Bobby), Delia Villegas, Hope Martinez (Henry), Jr. Correa, Tony Correa (Rosie), Mario Correa (Jan), Jesse Correa (Vicky) and numerous special nieces and nephews. Proverbs 31:31 “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” A funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Tres Pinos, CA on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Hollister, CA.
