Obituary of Delores T. Rovella
Our mom, Delores Rovella passed away on April 24, 2024 at the age of 95 surrounded by her loving family. Heaven is a livelier place now that she is there. We are sure that she is dancing with our dad to their favorite song, In the Mood. They have been waiting for this moment for 33 years.
Delores was born on March 1, 1929 in Crows Landing, Ca to Antonette and Daniel Silveira. They lived in the San Joaquin Valley where her dad worked on local dairies. She was a drum majorette, marching in parades for the Portuguese celebrations. Her family moved to Hollister where she attended San Benito High School and worked at the State theater as an usherette. This is where she caught the eye of Anthony Rovella, the love of her life. They married in 1950 in Reno surrounded by their immediate family.
Delores is survived by her children Mike Rovella, Geri(Greg) Goularte, Toni Rovella and Robert(Rhonda) Rovella. Her legacy also includes 11 wonderful grandkids and their spouses Genea(Brandon) Mingus, Paul(Dawn) Rovella, Garon Goularte, Donna Bakich, Wesley(Jessica) Rovella, AJ(Krista) Rovella, Shaunna(Chris) Finstad, Codi(Zack) Rovella, Michelle(Bradley) Burton, Anthony Rovella and Dustin(Delaney) Rovella. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tony Rovella, her mom Antonette Morris, her dad Daniel Silveira, Her brothers Robert and Stanley Silveira and most recently her son David Rovella.
Mom was a stay at home mom until we were all off in school. She then went back to work in the kitchen of Paines Restaurant until her grandchildren were born. She then went back to the role that she enjoyed the most, taking care of her family. She was always there for all of us and never said no. She was a tough cookie when it came to raising all of us. Mom and dad instilled in us honesty, integrity, loyalty, kindness, faith, strong work ethic and most important love of family. Their house was HOME. Lunch was on the table every day for all to eat while watching Soaps. All holidays and early memories revolve around their house. She was a very hard worker not just inside the home but at the ranch as well. She was a tough shed boss during apricot season. She made the best apricot jam and dried apricot pie. She took the recipe with her. Not to mention her homemade raviolis taught to her by her mother in law.
She was the most supportive woman to all of her family. She was always available to help at all events and attended as many sporting events, birthday parties, recitals, and truck pulls. She was known by all. She loved to joke with everybody that she came into contact with and everybody remembered the fun loving woman that she was. She loved to bowl and participated in a weekly league well into her 70’s. There was never a dull moment when mom was around. She was the life of the party. She loved to dance and did not need a reason to do so. She was still enjoying her music until the end.
Her age was in no way an indicator of how vibrant and fun loving she was. She was not confined by the restraints of time. The past was not overbearing on her and the future did not scare her. She lived and loved life in the present. Time was only a word in her presence, she was timeless.
Our heartfelt thank you to Home Connect, Horizon and our family for their help and support and especially our sister Toni for her around the clock care of our mom.
Per Delores's wishes services will be private.
