Obituary of Maureen L. Lambert
Maureen Lambert 10/11/1946-04/20/2024
Passed away peacefully from complications of breast cancer at the age of 77.
She was born in Medford, MA on 10/11/1946 to Michael and Mary (Fennelly) Lyzun, the oldest of 5 children. She attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School, Matignon High School, and attended Stonehill College, majoring in Chemistry and laboratory science. She shared her love of science with her siblings and often helped with homework and science projects. It was at Stonehill that she met the love of her life, Gerry Lambert. They celebrated 54 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2023. The Vietnam War briefly interrupted their lives, and when Gerry returned to the US after his service, he was stationed at Fort Ord in CA. Maureen moved with him to California where they established a life together. He joined the police force in Salinas, and she continued her career as a laboratory technologist and then manager of the blood laboratory at the Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula.
Maureen enjoyed raising and showing French Bryad dogs and won many awards. She was most proud of her “babies” Del and Leigh. She loved to host visits from her mother. Their favorite spot was the Pebble Beach Golf Club for lunch.
Retirement brought some deserved relaxation. She and Gerry settled into a routine and were able to enjoy some traveling and being with friends in the Salinas and Castroville community they called home.
Maureen is survived by her 3 sisters: Eileen. Lorraine, Rose, and 1 brother Michael. as well as many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements for a celebration of life are currently pending.
