Obituary of Frank Ray Lira

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frank Ray Lira passed away on March 6, 2024 at the age of 64, from cancer. His battle with cancer showed his courage and strength to face life's challenges head on. Despite the pain, Frank was a hero and stayed strong until the very end, surrounded by loved ones, honoring his legacy. As a child, Frank grew up in San Jose, CA with his parents and older brother. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1977. He enjoyed playing football in high school. He later started his career as a postal carrier, retiring after 35 years of service. Frank met the love of his life, Debbie, while working for the US Postal Service. They married in 1998 and together had one child: Frankie Jr.. They resided in the beautiful town of San Juan Bautista, CA. His wife and son supported and cared for him through his illness, lovingly at his side during his last days. Frank loved spending time outside. He enjoyed gardening and taking on special projects around the house. He had a knack for fixing things and gained the slogan “if Papa can’t fix it, no one can” by his grandchildren. Some of his favorite past times were coaching his son, Frankie at baseball and grilling Sunday dinner for the family. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in simple daily tasks. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Frank was an extremely giving man. His positive attitude and cheerful smile will be missed. He is survived by his wife (Debbie), Son (Frankie), stepdaughter (Jennifer), stepson (John), and 6 grandchildren, father-in- law (Jerry), mother-in-law (Condy), 3 sister-in-laws, a brother-in-law and many other extended family members. He also leaves behind his best friend, Wicket, who stayed by his side through-out his battle. Frank will be missed dearly by all. His father, mother and older brother will be there at the heavenly gates welcoming him. Frank will be honored in a celebration of life ceremony to be held at the Mission San Juan Bautista, on May 30th at 11:00 am. A reception will follow at the San Juan Bautista VFW hall (58 Monterey Street).
